From his flat in Greenwich, our founder Alastair Hook started us off on our mission to brew beers that are full of flavour and light on compromise – so the thirsty city’s love affair with proper beer began. We travel the world to source the best ingredients and spend up to six weeks brewing our beers, because if something is worth doing, we do it like we mean it.
Alastair spent 20 years planning the ultimate English lager. His reasoning was, and is, simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to make sure that you taste the full flavours of their locally grown malt and hops. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and world-famous hops are grown in Kent. Nicely positioned halfway between the two, our brewery in Greenwich is the perfect place to bring these ingredients together and let them mature for up to six weeks, to create our straight-talking, unpasteurised and long-matured London Lager. Well-balanced, crisp and refreshing, all we want you to taste when you sit down with our London Lager is malt and hop. The Kentish hops we’ve used in our lager mean it’s a happy contender to strong flavoured food so get out the cheeseboard or pair it with some oily fish like salmon or mackerel.
